About Us
About Our Haven in the Texas Countryside!
Here's what you need to know about Round Top: not everything's bigger in the Texas countryside, and that's just fine with us. Chartered in 1870, and with a population of a whopping 90 people, we like to think of Round Top as a little bit of heaven that's off the beaten path.
Our stretch of land in northern Fayette County, Texas didn't always go by "Round Top." Originally known as "Townsend," people remembered us for the round-topped tower that served as the post office in the mid-1800s, and which could be seen from a ways away. Because we southerners love our nicknames, it stuck. By 1850, we were Round Top, Texas.
It might be our twice-a-year Round Top Antiques Show that originally put us on the map, but there's plenty more to do all year long. We've got a little something for everyone - fine dining, fantastic art, unique shops and great places to explore. When you're done with all that and all tuckered out, our lodging can't be beat. Want to experience Round Top firsthand? We'd love to have you. Stop in and stay awhile in the city that's big time small.
